Alappuzha, situated 60kms south of Cochin is another major tourist destination known for its backwaters and beach. The house boat trip is one of the major attractions of this place. Even though its a small town, it is filled with picturesque locations that are sure to make a person spellbound. The snake boat race is one of the major cultural events of Alappuzha that is held around the time of August and tourists from different parts of the world fly down to Alappuzha to witness the majestic event.

There are also other tourist locations like Kotttayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad etc which are also places of great scenic beauty and cultural heritage.
