The BlackBerry Bold is a line of smartphones developed by Research in Motion. The family includes the 9000 (released in 2008), the 9700 (released in 2009), and the 9650 and 9780, both of which were released in 2010. The Bold family is known for its efficient, piano-like QWERTY keyboard and typical BlackBerry messaging capabilities. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 (codenamed "Onyx") is a high-end mobile phone data device (smartphone) developed by Research In Motion.

1. Stellar touchpad, brilliant screen, awesome look and feel, super fast OS (not to mention the logical and practical updates including distinct phone, sms, and email logs), longer tracked call log, bedside mode with face clock, lightweight, and price.

2. The camera is OK and it has a flash but I was never too crazy about cell phone cameras. As well, I?m not too impressed with RIM?s browser but the ease of the trackpad and the magnification function helps out a lot. The now standard Documents to GO is a magnificent third party app that allows me to view, make minor edits, and send my Microsoft Office files which is a killer convenience. Blackberry maps is always good as if tells me what street I?m on and all the cross streets as I approach them (Google maps doesn?t do that.) As well, the map always adjusts to the direction that I?m driving as opposed to always pointing north.

3. The Blackberry Bold has generally been positively reviewed by critics. Bonnie Cha of CNET rated the phone as "Excellent" and praised the phone's screen and multimedia capabilities. However, she did not like the bulkiness of the bold and she notes that it has poor web browsing navigation. However, she mentioned that the bulkiness would be greatly improved by Blackberry OS 6.0. I really wish that RIM and ATT could have by now arrived at an agreement that would allow a great touch screen but I'm not kidding when I say that having the track pad renders a touch screen almost irrelevant (except that the touch screen allows for way more screen space).
