Themed Parties

For many people, it's not enough to have a party; they want their party to have a theme

. And why not, themes make planning menu, music, cocktails and decorations much easier. Moreover, guests can get to know each other by mingling over their outfits. Some great party themes are:

1. Moroccan tea party:

Moroccan tea parties are a great way to spend time outdoors. Hosts can set up large tents, lay rugs on the ground, assort embroidered pillows around short tables and decorate the space with shishas and beautiful, coloured tea glasses. Guests would be encouraged to wear babouches on their feet and djellabas and gandoras on their bodies. These are long cotton dresses with little shape or detailing to them. They come in every colour and can be worn by men and women.

2. Burlesque:

Over the past few years the party scene has returned to the prohibition era. I don't know whether it was the rebellion of the alcohol smugglers and mob men, or the sexiness of the can can dancers of the time, but something has reignited peoples excitement about this era. Feathers, sequins, top hats, canes, tou tous and fish nets are all that's needed to fit in at a burlesque party.

3. 80s night:

We all make fun of the tackiness that was eighties fashion, yet it is a style era that is constantly being revisited by fashion designers and icons. The leggings, the animal prints, and the pleather it's all too good to let go of, or so it would seem. Probably the best part of the decade though, was the music. Michael Jackson, Annie Lennox, old school Madonna - it's all you need to get grandmothers out of their chairs and spinning on the dance floor. With the promise of those classic artists, almost anyone would be willing to crimp their hair!

4. Celebrity showdown:

We read about them, watch TV and films featuring them and have become completely obsessed with every part of celebrity lifestyle. Why not then dress up as them? Celebrities tend to have great wardrobes and unique looks, sporting their style and adding your own touches can be a fun idea for a party. You might even take it one step further and have to perform something like a scene out of one of their movies or a song they sing.

Parties are always a good time. Enforcing a dress code might feel like an imposition but no one will mind when they arrive and experience all of the excitement you have in store.
