The 'naked' Scanner In Manchester Airport
In 2009, the scanner machine which will show the naked image of passengers has been introduced in Manchester airport as a trial
. According to the official of the airport, the reason why they do this is because the customers do not like the traditional body searching; however, it is not hard to think of that it may be a kind of over-reaction to the terrorism and besides, how can they make sure that customers will prefer this new search method although they do not like the previous one.
One of the 60 year old lady said that "Maybe if I was 18, slim and lovely, I'd take it". It seems that most of the passengers are not prepared to try this naked scanner even through the airport claimed that the image cannot be stored or captured in any way and it is super safe. A lot of commentator said that this is a disgusting idea and nobody would like to show their body to the safe guard.
Why the trial is operated first in Manchester Airport all over the UK? It might be because that it is the busiest airport in the UK outside London. Each year, it serves around 20 million passengers.
The Manchester Airport is located in a civil parish on the southern border of the City of Manchester in Greater Manchester, England named Ringway. It is opened in 1938 and has won the worlds best airport in 1995 and UK best airport in 2008. With three terminals and two runways, the airport connects more than 190 destinations in the world.
The ground transport near the airport is easily accessible. You can arrive at the airport by train, bus, coach and tram (light rail system).
There are both shot-stay and long-stay parking service nears the terminals in the airport. For the short-stay parking, in 2007, it started to practice a 'No Waiting' restriction; as a result, all pick ups should use the short-stay car parks.
More about the city
Manchester is a d metropolitan and vibrant city located in the north of the UK. Sometimes, it is called the capital of the North. There is a little bit controversy about who is the second largest city in the UK between Birmingham and Manchester, but in 2002, Manchester was titled as the second city of the United Kingdom.
As the worlds first industrialized city in the world, it used to be the centre of the world industry during the Industrial Revolution and Victoria era. At that time, it was a city full of steel and cement which made it look ugly and boring, but during decades, the city experienced transformation and the change is quite astonishing.
Besides its fascinating historic attractions, there are two places you must have interest in, namely Manchester United and the University of Manchester. Every football fan is dreaming to watch a game in Old Trafford and every student in the world has heard about the fame of University of Manchester.
