There Are Various Storage Technologies Available In The Market, Choose The Right One!

, systems and servers. Consequently, there is also need of data storage technologies. Usually, data is stored and maintained for future reference, for that there are storage devices to manage the data for long years. As the business grows, information also increases, so companies have to ensure that the data is stored in a secure way. These days, most organizations plan storage solutions to maintain the data, but there are some pitfalls from these storage solutions. Generally, if the company has problems related to budget concerns, data hardware and require more space for storage; then they look for these storage solutions. These data storage solutions are really helpful to improve the database.

These data storage is mainly related to network, because network is required to access the data from different systems within organizations. This storage has many technologies to store, maintain the data and to protect it from any information loss. As discussed the technologies include network attached storage (NAS), direct attached storage (DAS), storage area network (SAN), redundant array of independent disks (RAID) and internet small computer system interface (iSCSI). These are connected to servers and systems, so that it can provide the data access through intranet. Out of these technologies SAN, NAS and DAS are important and preferable by all organizations.

If the data is connected to internet, then there is a chance of information hacking. But if the system is connected with network attached storage (NAS), then there is no chance of hacking as it protects the data from hackers and thefts. NAS is the popular storage device in industry and has multiple features like storing, maintaining, retrieving the data to increase business efficiency. NAS is completely unlike of SAN and less intricate to use. Most of the organizations are using NAS because it provides cost effective, and the privacy for the information.

Storage area network (SAN) is useful for large size organizations, because SAN enlarges the disk space to store as much data as available. It is high speed network storage and supports migration, data mirroring and data backup within the network. SAN is based on fibre channel, iSCSI protocols which connect through Ethernet. It also supports to connect over TCP or IP protocols. With long distance local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), SAN manages storing and retrieving the data.

As compared to SAN and NAS, DAS is not popular in storage technologies. Direct attached storage as the name indicates, it is directly attached to the system. It is the internal hard drive of a server computer. It also connected in external storage boxes. All these technologies are necessary to maintain the information securely.
