The next thing to consider is whether you need legal advice. If the accident happened due to the negligence or fault of someone other than you, you may file a claim for compensation for the damages. What you do immediately after the accident may or may not work in your favour. Here is a look at some of the things to do after an accident.

Get medical aid. If one or more individuals sustain serious injuries, medical aid and assistance should obviously be sought. However, the problem is many fail to seek medical help because they consider that the injuries are not serious. However, if there were serious injuries and an ambulance was called, the Gardai would visit the scene and take note of the details of the accident. File the claim at the right place. The circumstances determine where you file the claim. The majority of such claims go to the Injuries Board Ireland when the individual at fault for the accident accepts liability. However, in case of any dispute regarding liability, the case is filed to the Court directly. If either of the parties involved in the claim do not accept the compensation amount awarded by the Injuries Board, the case goes to the Court as well. In a case where the driver causing the accident flees from the scene or does not have third party liability insurance, the case goes to the Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland.
