Things You Should Know About Rabbit Hutches

When you decide to have pet rabbits, it is important to first find a place for them to live in

. Before taking them home, you need to prepare their living area which should be placed in a safe place either in your house or garden. Aside from providing them shelter, the rabbit hutch should also be a safe haven for your pets. It should be designed to keep predators away while keeping the rabbits inside. If they are allowed to run freely, they can chew on furniture or other things because they are normally inclined to chew. So they are best kept in their home. Home is called a rabbit hutch.

There's a simple one storey wooden hutch which is small and ideal for a single rabbit with a roof opening, it is called a basic solitary hutch. Another type is the elevated single rabbit hutch, which is elevated from the ground by stilts. This could accommodate one rabbit only but it is safer and easier to clean than the basic solitary hutch. These two types of hutches are ideal for those who have limited space.

The second type is the elevated single rabbit hutch which is built on stilts to provide more protection against animals that can harm the rabbits. It has a similar design as the basic solitary but cleaning it is easier because of the stilts.

There is also the triple-decker hutch which is pretty much the same as the double-decker with, of course, three levels. The third level can be made into a storage area where you can put extra food and toys.

The last but not the least is the deluxe rabbit hutch. This is a double-decker and has a trap door that opens into a run. Rabbits can exercise here to make them healthy. It is the ideal hutch to have if you plan to have more rabbits. Remember to place your rabbit hutch under a shade if it is located outdoors. During cold months you have to bring the hutch indoors or you can buy a blanket with insulation.

If you plan to have more than two rabbits, the deluxe rabbit hutch is right for you. It is a double-decker and has a rabbit run. Since rabbits require exercise, this is a good hutch to have because it gives them room to play and run around.
