Cities can be amazing places to go to for a weekend. This is particularly true if the city you choose is in another country and just so happens to be the biggest one there.

In the case of Switzerland we would be talking about Zurich. This is a large and active city and one which has lots to show you if you have the time to spend at least a long weekend there. It is impossible to get bored and very easy to have a huge list of things to do and places to go.

For instance why not start your day at the Landesmuseum? This museum is well over a century old and it is still bringing in lots of visitors on a daily basis. You will discover much of Zurich's history by visiting this attraction, and a pleasant few hours can be spent wandering around it.

Elsewhere in the city you can see several different churches. By far the best area of the city to visit is the so called Old Town, and it is here you will find churches such as St Peter. This particular offering is well known for having the biggest clock face in the entire world. Be sure you step back far enough to get it in a photo!

If it is shopping you want to do, you need to head for Niederdorf. It presents you with a knot of alleyways that lead to all kinds of delightful little shops. Even if your budget won't stretch to buying instead of sightseeing, you will have a wonderful time exploring the area. You don't have to worry about cars since the whole place is pedestrianised, and it is very popular for its attractiveness and selection of shops.

Another must see place while you are visiting Zurich is Lindenhof. The old Roman castle once stood here, but now it is devoted to providing tourists and residents with a place from which they can glance down on the city of Zurich below. Lindenhof presents you with a climb to reach it from the city, although it is not a long walk to take. Once you reach the top you can get an impressive view of Zurich below, and it provides you with a superb chance to take some nice photos. If the weather is good it also offers a nice spot for lunch, and you can watch people playing chess out in the open as well.

Anyone visiting Zurich will be looking for a hotel Zurich to stay in while they are in the city. But once you are there you can see there are plenty of things to do and see to ensure you have the best possible time.
