Thinking About Having Breast Augmentation. Think About Which Breast Implants First.

Hollywood has truly helped the plastic surgery industry

. What used to be for building back the breast after removal because breast cancer, or a birth defect, breast implants are now a ticket to stardom. Barring talent, breast augmentation would be that foot into the door of a (possibly devious) agent or producer.

It's undeniable that society seems to have a strange obsession with breasts which in turn is driving more and more women whose ages are definitely getting younger and younger to go for breast implants. If you think about it, they're there for a purely biological reason:provide nutrition for babies. Besides almost half of the world's population has a pair, even your mother. Well, so do men, but they don't really like talking about it.

But before taking the plunge to deepen that cleavage (pun intended) through cosmetic surgery, take some to think about the type of breast implants that is your choice. I will note, for the sake of full disclosure, that I'm not a trained medical practitioner and it's still best to speak with a licensed doctor regarding your options. But from my research, breast implants come in two kinds, silicone and saline.

The first kind of breast implant are called saline breast implants because they're silicon shells filled with saline. Perhaps that they don't appear or feel as natural as silicon breast implants, you can save around a thousand dollars.

On the other hand, silicone breast implants are pre-filled with a thick, sticky silicone gel which has the same consistency of human fat. Because of this, they are usually perceived as more natural than their saline counterparts.

You could also take a tip or two from your own body's shape to determine which breast implant to choose. If your breasts are of moderate size and they still have healthy breast tissue and a reasonable amount of subcutaneous fat, saline breast implants will work for you. If, on the other hand, you have smaller breasts with less fat, the silicone breast implants will be better since you don't have the padding to camouflage possible rippling and silicone breast implants have a lower incidence of that happening.

Thinking about worst case scenarios could also help you make your decision. For example, breast augmentations comes with the real risk of the breast implant rupturing. With a saline breast implant, it is easy to detect a rupture because your breast will change in shape noticeably, and it is also relatively safer because the saline can be absorbed by your body. While imaging tests such as an MRI are the only way you can confirm that an implant has ruptured. In addition, whether or not exposure to silicone is not cleared as being completely safe for the body.

Though there are risks that are shared by both silicone and breast implants, which have to be considered if you've decided to have the surgery in the first place. The risk of infection is always present after a surgery, along with pain. There is also a possibility that the sensitivity of the breast will be lessened. As mentioned earlier, the possibility for a breast implant rupture and subsequent leakage are equal for both kinds of implants.

I'd definitely recommend that before any surgery, you should have a thorough discussion with a licensed medical professional because I may have researched but I still lack the insight that a doctor may provide.
