There are three important areas of cricket batting, fielding and bowling. Excelling in these areas is the basic prerequisite to have a chance to win the match.

The teams which has players who can bat, bowl and field well also known as all-rounder have an edge over other teams. If more teams have all-rounder then it depends on the quality of all-rounder's and their on field performance. Cricket has something more than batting, bowling and fielding and that is strategy, belief, determination, never say die attitude and above all momentum. Cricket is such a game which tests the mental attitude and mental toughness of the teams and the teams which plays and enjoys as a unit has better chances to win.

Momentum is very important in cricket and there is no room for slight bit of lethargy as the moment the momentum is gone, the match may also result into loses. The moment there is little bit of complacency and it may change the fortunes of teams, the team on the verge of victory may end up as a losing team. In cricket there is good saying that catches win matches and a brilliant catch or brilliant run-out can win match for one team and on the other hand a dropped catch or sloppy fielding can cost the other team a defeat and possible elimination from world cup.

Cricket is a game of uncertainty and a team which performs better on the day wins the match. But then there is no substitute for fast scoring batsman's, a wicket taking bowlers, a genuine all-rounder's and excellent fielders who with their positive attitude and self belief can change the fortunes in their favor and win the championships. Truly champions are made of different salt; they have positive attitude, self belief, never give up attitude and the courage to take on any challenge. No matter whatever is the result, the team which plays like an integrated unit, enjoys their game, can appreciate the effort of other team members and has the great will and hunger to win will ultimately succeed. Captaincy matters but the sum of team effort is more than any individual brilliance, after all cricket is a team game and it is the duty of the captain of the team to raise the level of performance of team members.
