Three Frequently Asked Questions About Health And Fitness
For some people, understanding health and fitness is something that just comes naturally to them
. They have a keen interest in the topic and because of this they seem to soak up whatever information they hear or read, becoming extremely knowledge on various related aspects.
There are plenty of people who aren't in the same boat, however and - generally because of a lack of interest - find the whole topic confusing, having to constantly ask questions.
And whilst you'll no doubt have your own questions that you want to ask that are specific to you as an individual, take a look through the following three frequently asked questions about health and fitness.
1. Is warming up and stretching really necessary?
When you're in the mood for exercising - which for those who don't enjoy it can come unexpectedly - you can seem like you want to just dive in and get started straight away.
If you skip the warming up and stretching first, however, it will be a complete shock to your system and your muscles will have to start working as hard as they need to be without any preparation.
Exercising without warming up and stretching is always recommended - start exercising without doing so and you'll not only feel the effects in the morning, but you risk injuring yourself.
2. Is there any benefit to cutting out a food group from your diet?
This question is one that's very often asked due to the popularity of diets that say you should cut out fats or cut out carbohydrates.
Simply put, a proper diet should consist of portions taken from each of the major food groups, without leaving any group out.
Whilst you are likely to see some distinct weight loss if you do cut out a certain food group, aside from being unhealthy and potentially dangerous, the weight loss will only be temporary and as soon as you reintroduce that food group back into your diet, you'll see the pounds begin to pile back on.
3. How do you get a noticeable six pack?
A question it seems that every man wants to know the answer to at some point during their lives, whilst you can't achieve a six pack overnight and it does take a lot of hard work and determination, there is one golden rule that you should stick by - lose weight first.
All that a six pack is is your toned abdominal muscles and most of us have a six pack to a certain extent, it's just that for those whose six pack isn't visible, it's generally because they're carrying too much weight around their stomach.
Of course, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to develop and tone the muscles, so if you're an ideal weight, don't think you have to lose more, but just keep in mind that that if you're spending hours a day doing sit ups, they're going to be of next to no use if you've got a layer of excess weight around your stomach covering the muscles.
