Toddler Bed: The No-cry Sleeping Solution For Your Toddler
Cute, cuddly, playful and naughty - these are just some of the adjectives how most people would describe toddlers
. If toddlers have their very own motto, something like "watch out world for here I come!" would certainly fit the bill. After spending their first year and half in a cocoon of love and contentment with their moms and dads, toddlers are now at the stage of their lives where they become more aware and curious of their surroundings. Not surprisingly, such big transition could also affect the way they sleep, and the white crib that once accommodate your toddler won't certainly be enough to fulfill all the needs of your growing child.
You have to understand that the sleeping cycle of toddlers is not the same as when they were still babies. During this stage of your child's life, you'll notice different unusual sleeping behaviors in earlier months that could become more intense and frequent later on. These unusual behaviors are often characterized through rocking and head-banging before bed time, nightmares and night terrors, tooth grinding, and sleep walking and sleep talking. Some of these behaviors can be scary at first, but you should take note that all of these are normal during this stage of your child's development. Yet, if you would like to cautiously look after these sleeping behaviors, it is imperative that you give your child a safe and comfortable sleeping place, and a toddler bed is probably the best option that you should go for.
There are differing forms of toddler bed options from which you could choose from that exude a variety of designs, functionality, and could meet the changing sleeping needs of toddlers. You will find units made from hard wood that have artistic hand carved designs and there are also units constructed from metal products with decorative features especially made for toddlers. Some beds are also made as convertible units, while others have specialized safety features that could warrant the safety of your sleeping kid.
Of course, just because you have other bed options doesn't mean that you already need to throw the white crib that your toddler has been using. These days, many cribs come with the option to convert them into a daybed. These cribs come with conversion kits, though most of the time such kits are sold separately from the units. These crib models are equipped with removable side drops that can be replaced with small guard rails, intentionally made for toddlers. Hence, if you would like an economical bed choice that would permit your child to easily transition from one bed to another, a convertible crib is the most ideal purchasing decision that you would make that should be done when your child is still a baby.
When shifting your toddler from a small crib to a new toddler bed where you would be leaving him or her during sleep, you have to take things slowly. Sometimes, it could take weeks or months for a child to be able to adapt to such change, so you have to be patient enough because it is likely that you'll see extreme reactions such as unrestrained excitement and utter fear from your kid. It is important that you set up the new bed of your kid in the same location where his or her crib was situated so that your kid will easily adapt to this change knowing that he or she would be seeing the same view when he or she is about to sleep.
Of course, once your child has outgrown his or her toddler sleeping bed, you would need to purchase a larger kid-bed that is appropriate for his or her age and sleeping needs. When possible, allow your child to select his or her own bed. Don't worry because similar to toddler sleeping beds, kids' beds are also available in a variety of designs and sizes such as a medium-built captain bed ideal for boys, or a castle inspired kids' bed that is appropriate for girls. By permitting your kid to choose his or her own bed, it would be easier for your child to adjust in his or her new bed.
