Three Reasons Why Having Your Own Garden Can Help You Weather Out This Financial Storm
Sure, times are hard
Sure, times are hard. We hear about it in the news almost every single day. It's hard to ignore it, of course, when hundreds and thousands of Americans are being laid off or are in line waiting for food stamps. What can one do to help his or her own family then save a few precious dollars in case the postman comes clutching those bills in hand?
Well, to your surprise, having your very own garden can actually help you out even in it's own little way. You can't plant money trees though, sadly; however, what you can plant in your very own slice of land could be something worth nearly equal to money or is valuable enough to be sold even. So, what can a garden do to help you in this economic time of need?
You can plant your own vegetables or crops.
It doesn't take a farmer to be able to plant vegetables and crops. In fact, we all could and are very capable of planting our own crops like potatoes, carrots and many others. If we are able to plant these vegetables or crops in our garden or in our backyard, this would mean that we would be self sufficient in at least one way.
We use the word self sufficient that's because if you do plant vegetables or crops in your garden, that would mean you would be growing your own food. Do you know how much of a benefit this would be to you and your family if ever this were to come true? No more having to wake up early to go to the market to buy greens and no more doubting whether what you had just bought is fresh or not. After all, if you grew your food all by yourself, you're sure to know that what you're eating is definitely fresh and well grown.
You'll have something to pre-occupy your hands with.
If you're busy with one thing that means you have less time to be idle or to do some other activity. With tending to your garden, this means that you've got yourself a good few, solid hours of tending, weeding and watering your garden and the plants in it everyday should you choose to tend for it yourself.
For one thing, this is something more productive than you having to drive to your nearest Starbucks to get yourself your favorite frapuccino. This can save you a few extra dollars everyday. Multiply that by three hundred and sixty five days and you'll get yourself a pretty sizeable amount of dollars saved thanks to you not having to go to a Starbucks every single morning.
If you get to have gardening as your hobby, you wouldn't need to pay for much.
Instead of collecting toys and figurines that would cost you several hundreds of dollars, why not take on a more productive and recreational hobby instead? Gardening, if you didn't know, is actually quite fulfilling and fun if you get the hang of things.
