When the Internet was first available to the general public there were speculations that it would be only a fad

. As we can see today those speculations were wrong. Now the Internet is the place where we get the majority of our information. One can find anything that he or she is looking for on the Internet.

Search engines have greatly enhanced the information-finding process. One can simply type in whatever he or she is looking for and a huge list of websites containing relevant information pops up with results options sometimes in the billions! If, for example, one wanted to find information on water aerobics routines Google has over 145,000 results for water aerobics. Youtube, LLC the second most used search engine and the foremost video search engine has 73 video results for the same topic.

Gone are the days when a trip to the library was necessary in order to write a research paper, that is, unless you don't have a personal computer. In which case you can visit any library to use one of their PC's or Mac's to conduct research through...that's right, the Internet. Reference books and the Dewey Decimal System are things of the past. With article databases and eLibraries at the fingertips of university students there is no need ever step foot in a library.

So what if you have a question? You don't just need to perform a search but you want an answer to a very specific question. Where will you go on the internet for that? Facebook, Inc. silly! Facebook has over 350 million users and about half (marketing pilgrim, 2010) (that's around 175,000,000) log on to Facebook daily. That's a daily panel of 175,000,000 to provide feedback to your questions. You may not be friends with all of these users but through your social networks you do have connections to all 350 million members.


Facebook and Google aren't the only answers to all of your problems. There are also millions of blogs with plenty of information and probably a solution to whatever you may want to know.
