Soy candles are a great option to use in place of lotion. Just be sure you purchase a soy candle that doesn't have added chemicals, harsh scents, and is safe to use on skin.

Invest in a good soap. This may sound silly, but soaps are often the biggest offender when it comes to your skin. Some soaps dry your skin out, others may leave behind residue, and some may even cause an allergic reaction. Invest in an organic, or local product. These items clearly list the ingredients in their products, and typically these items are much more beneficial to your skin than many big name items. Goat's milk soap, and sugar scrubs can be found in many local stores, or organic markets, and are great products to use for sensitive skin, dry skin, and everything in between. Check out your local farmers market for handmade soaps made by local residents.


Take a look at your surroundings. Sometimes the environment can cause havoc on your skin, and this can mean even the environment in your own home. Many homes, especially older homes, have poor circulation, or are influenced by the outside weather. If you live in a dry humid climate, it may be a good idea to invest in a humidifier to help regulate your home. Same for those that live in a wet muggy climate, find a way to regulate the climate within your home.
