The 80's style of makeup was actually just a stronger look from the 70's style of makeup. But you do not have to go too crazy with your makeup today because people who lived in the 80's will see your style even if you use it lightly. So, now we can learn how to get ready for the retro look.

In the late seventies and eighties, they believed that using a lot of makeup was best, whereas today we think quite differently. The 80's makeup style was to shock people so that they couldn't help but look at your face because it was covered with so much wild makeup. Use eye shadows of very bright colors like electric blue which was a favorite of the era. And do not just hint at them, go the whole way and paint your eyelids with it. Another way to go is to paint the lower part of your eyelids with it and smudge it with a completely contrasting color on the upper part of the eyebrow. Remember, the eye shadow will cover more area than you do today, but strike a balance between the pleasantly retro and the outright disastrous. Finish it off with thick mascara on the lids and a black line on the lashes.

You should also exaggerate your cheeks. If you currently use peach blush then you can substitute with pink or red like they did back in the eighties. That is all there is to retro makeup from the 1980's and you that you will need is to compliment it with some retro clothing.
