Tampering with Halloween candy should be one of the top concerns for parents when it comes to this otherwise fun and enjoyable holiday.

If you are a parent or knows someone who is, its imperative that you know about any potentially dangerous situations that could involve Halloween treats and the other edible items the kids may receive while trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Because of this, parents must be diligent in checking each and every single piece of candy they receive. Even though the kids may become a bit frustrated during the process, simply explain that seeing to it that they are safe is the most important thing and well worth the wait.

If you do some research you will find that some incidents have occurred with the placement of illegal drugs, razors, poison and other things that were in these snacks. In this article I will help you with some information on how you can learn to check Halloween treats for safety.

The first thing on your list is that you should check your childs trick-or-treat bags for foods that have been home made. Some of the things that you should look for are homemade lollipops, cookies, candy apples and other small items.I know someone worked very hard to make the snacks for these children and they appear and are probably very appetizing but you should discard of these items immediately.

When a child receives a home made Halloween treat anything could have been used in the recipe to create this. This would include household chemicals, drugs, poisons or other products that may be potentially fatal if ingested.

Any store bought Halloween treats should then be inspected thoroughly looking for any signs of tampering or damage.

Another thing to check is to make sure the packaging still has its original color and there are no small holes in them. The reason for this is some may attempt to poison the candy by inserting a needle with toxic materials.

If you discover that your child has received fruits, or any other similar items, your best bet is just too discard these items anyway. These items could have been easily tampered with. The best advice that anyone could receive when it comes to Halloween treats is that if you are not sure then your best to just discard that item anyway.

And finally, make sure your child is only trick-or-treating for their Halloween treats in areas that you know and trust.
