Two of the most common ways to make money from home are affiliate marketing and surveys. Affiliate marketing is simply posting a link to a company's website on your webpage, and every time somebody clicks on the link or uses the link to make a purchase, you earn a set amount. Unfortunately, this amount is generally very small, so unless you make a lot of sales, or you post tons of links on your page, it isn't a very reliable way to make money. Surveys, on the other hand, tend to be a little bit higher in pay, but they are still not very dependable for a steady income. The problem with doing surveys for money is that you have to qualify for each survey, and if you don't qualify then you're just out of luck.

If you can afford to set aside the time to put together a good client list and do enough promoting to pay off, affiliate marketing is probably the better choice. Still, you can not expect to quit your nine to five job immediately and start living off of affiliate marketing. More realistically you can expect to keep your job and just bring in a little bit of extra money every month from your home money making efforts.

The main thing you need to remember is to watch out for yourself. If you are supposed to be paid on a certain day, and you aren't, question why you haven't been paid. If you get a poor excuse for why you haven't been paid, it is in your best interest to give up on that particular company because it is only going to waste your time in the long run.

If you are interested in starting your own business, your opportunities become a little more promising, but this is still not going to be a walk in the park. You are going to have to put some serious time and effort into not only marketing and promotion, but also creating something that people want to pay you for. If you can do that then this may be the best way for you to start making money from home.
