A nice family picnic gear

The very first thing you will require for an exciting family picnic is a spacious quilt or blanket. You can use that old blanket you have at home or purchase one that has a waterproofed backing - this is especially good if the grass happens to be wet on the day you decide to have your picnic. There are some good picnic blankets in the market, I love ones that fold up in a compact form and come equipped with a tote handle.

The second item on the line is a picnic basket for ferrying your comestibles and cutlery, ensure that this is roomy enough to accommodate everything and also sturdy. If you're a big family then you should consider purchasing a couple of backpacks or picnic baskets so that each adult can help carry one or two.

Talk food

Matters food should be all about simplicity and convenience. Some of our wonderful picnics have involved food we picked up at a local restaurant. I recall one time that we picked up tortillas from a local Mexican specialty restaurant. It's also good to bring along a book and a small version of your kids favorite game like Scrabble or chess, this will provide some silent activity when everyone is tired of running around.

When preparing for a family picnic be careful not to over pack, keep in mind that kids can be demanding and they may want you to bring along the whole bunch of toys; if you have a spacious truck then you may oblige to that but strike a deal if the space is limited and only carry what's necessary and suitable for the occasion. Unless you're hosting the family picnic in your own backyard; keep supplies to a minimum, especially sports related items.

The same approach to be taken concerning food. Bring along an assortment of delicious snaky treats and sandwiches. Kids get hungrier after running around but they hardly surpass their regular food intake especially when play is within distance. Just don't be too restrictive on food; the best rule is to pack a bit more than every kid's normal food intake and you'll be safe.

The only supply that should be carried in excess is water, because kids get very thirsty after engaging in sporty activities. Find out in advance about the availability of clean bathrooms and functional fountains in picnic destination.
