Though there is no fixed strategy to survive in this industry of cut-throat competition, you can keep the following tips in mind:

1.Adopt a professional attitude. One of the reasons most people fail to make a mark is that they have a very casual attitude towards their profession. You must learn your lines and come to the sets on time. Your professional attitude will reflect on you in a positive manner.

2.Be cordial with your fellow actors and the crew. Bad mouthing your co-stars or being rude to the crew will not help you. Try to maintain friendly relations with them but don't let anyone take advantage of you in any way.

3.You have to learn to accept rejections. If you are a novice looking for a casting director, then it might be weeks before someone calls you for an audition. Even if you audition at loads of places, only a few might call you for a minor role. You have to prepared for this possibility and accept it in a positive way.

4.Don't let the success get to your head. If one of your movies is doing well at the box office and you are enjoying the perks of stardom, there is no guarantee that your next films will also bear the same result. A flop is enough to make the critics forget about 10 successful movies. Staying grounded is most important.

5.Acknowledge criticism and failure in the same way as success. If a movie or a play has failed to connect with the audience or the critics have given bad reviews about your performance, don't let it bog you down.

6.Always maintain harmonious relations with the paparazzi. Sometimes they ask extremely personal or irritating questions, but you have to remain patient and answer them in a diplomatic way. They might write things about you which are untrue but you must take it sportingly. Just focus on your work.
