Tips of Cleaning Lace and Silver Jewellery

General Tips

General Tips

Exposure to harsh chemicals can alter the appearance of our jewellery. Chemicals present in items such as Perfumes, Hair Sprays, Pools, Hot Tubs, and Spas can easily damage the polish and shine of our jewellery piece. Oxidised silver and pearls can also be easily damaged in sea water, pool, spa, or hot tub. Hence a rule of thumb: never expose our jewellery to chemicals.

We recommend that customers remove their jewellery before going to sleep and avoid performing vigorous activity such as work, sport and cleaning.

Silver Jewellery

One of the easiest ways to maintain Silver Jewellery at home is to occasionally clean it with a small amount of tooth paste. Apply some toothpaste on a soft toothbrush or finger and with a tiny amount of water, gently scrub the jewellery. After a few minutes, rinse the jewellery in clean water and find your jewellery piece shinning again. Note: Do not try this method on jewellery pieces that are either silver or gold plated. This is only effective on jewellery pieces that are 100% made out of silver or gold.

Another method to be used is to place the jewellery in warm water with a mild detergent. Let it soak for 10 minutes in lukewarm soapy water, gently brush it clean with a soft toothbrush and then rinse it in clean water. In the end, rinse the jewellery thoroughly and polish it with a jewellery cloth.

When storing jewellery, especially , wrap each piece in acid-free tissue paper and place in a polyethylene bag to prevent outside elements such as heat, moisture, fibres and oils from tarnishing the silver.

Lac Jewellery

Lac jewellery is handmade and very delicate and requires utmost care. When handling Lac jewellery, avoid dropping jewellery pieces on the floor. Sometimes a smallest fall can result in a crack in a piece which cannot be repaired of fixed.
