You can't call yourself financially stable until you made something out of your credit score. It is the only way you can have a chance of applying for loans and other credits, low interest rates, and get approved faster. If you have made a mess out of your credit score, don't panic. Here are tips to get you through the difficult process.

1. Improving your score or rating means only one thing: facing your debt head-on. The best way to truly mess up is to not pay on time, or worse, not pay at all and have outstanding amount going over. Before implementing credit-clean up you have to de-clutter by paying your debt monthly and never be late with it. Consistency is one consideration that can make your rating higher.

2. Pay your balances accordingly. Credit score goes higher when there is a harmonious balance between how much credit were used and the available credits you currently have, but the best would be to use very little credit as much as you can. It's very basic, but lots of people have made this mistake too frequently.

3. Cut up bad credit cards, but don't cancel the account entirely because it will reduce the available credits on your records. With other credits, do not cancel until you've settled it or have made debt consolidation to pay it all off. Otherwise, it will reflect badly on your credit history. If you need another, find a good card with low interest rates and fees, even if it means lesser perks that way.

4. If you have little credit available and would like to pump it up just a little bit, diversify by looking into installment loans, revolving accounts (use lightly) or other credit types. Getting the best credit scores means you have mortgage, auto loans and other personal loans, but never go all out on inquiries. It still shows up on your credit history and makes it look bad, like you're on a no-stop loan shopping. Remember though that credit from department stores and the like have negative reflections on your records. For those kinds of purchases, use cash as much as you can.

5. For credit card holders trying to repair their credit, remember to never go over 30% of the limit. Maxing out your card is a major credit faux pas. Distasteful and not recommended. If you do charge for an expensive item, let it never be something that you can't afford to pay off your spending budget in a month. And finally, make sure to pay ALL bills regularly and punctually.

You can repair credit, even those that look very bad from your perspective. If your credit score is so far below what's acceptable, maybe it's time that you look into a finance officer or a professional to help you with your problem.
