Tips on Moving a Pool Table

Moving a pool table in a short or long distance is quite a difficult task. The normal pool table weighs about a thousand pounds so it's definitely heavy and you need to know proper procedures to carry out the moving process effectively. If you're not sure that you can do it with the help of your friends, you may opt to hire professionals in order to avoid risks of damaging the pool. However, you can actually do it with your friends by following these useful tips.

First, you must gather about three or more people to help you in moving the table. Once you have enough manpower to do the task, you can now disassemble the pool table. It's not entirely difficult but you must do it cautiously and use the right tools. Prepare a flat head screwdriver, staple puller, and a protective gear material to cover your eyes and hands. Using the staple remover, you can start removing the staples from the pool's pocket straps. After that, begin removing the bolts which you can find under the railings. There should be three bolts in each rail. Once the bolts are removed, the rails will come off easily.

After removal of the rails, the next thing to do is flip the table over cautiously to avoid the pockets from collapsing. Then, remove its pockets.

Having removed the rails and pockets, you can then remove the felt from the top of the table. It may be secured on with glue or staples so you must perform the task slowly and carefully. Roll the felt up, then place it aside.

Lastly, you should lift the slate off the table's frame. It must have a screw on every corner. The pool's table may be tapered by beeswax or plaster. You may use a power drill to remove these. After taking the screws off, start wrapping each part in a protective plastic so that the finish of the table will be protected. Pack every component to the moving truck. The disassembled pool table will still weigh around 1,000 lbs, hence your moving truck should be able to carry this capacity. Keep in mind that if your table is one of the cheaper ones and does not have the slate you don't have to do all the above steps. All you have to do is just unscrew the legs and two people can carry it as one peace.
