These sails come in many different sizes, colors and shade structure like square shade, triangular shade, and personal shade canopy. Draw a rough sketch of the existing deck in a sheet of paper. Draw in the preferred location for the shade sail. At least one vertex of the sail should be attached to the roof structure, and the other ends of the sail should be connected to railings or walls. If suppose multiple shade sails are used, place the sails in such a way that the edges of the individual sails are connected with adjacent sails. These multiple sails will give fashion attractive and rich outline.
Move all your furniture outside the deck. Fix the sun shade sails in the appropriate location on the deck, as you drawn in the sketch previously. Mark the planned location of your sail end connections on the roof, fence and railing surfaces.
Make holes for eye-hooks and pad-eye slots at the pointed position on the roof and wall. Eye-bolts and rafter-bolts should be used at the roof structure. These bolts should be attached using a friction connection, such as nuts and bolts with washers. Lag screws will really work out, but they cannot bear the same load as friction connection bolts. Pad-eyes are placed at walls and railings. If possible, pad-eyes can be fixed with friction connections also. Bolts on many railings will agreeable; however, most wall installations are used lag screws because of the orientation and construction of the surfaces.
Screw or bolt the rafter-bolts, eye-bolts and pad-eyes to the surfaces all around the deck. Do not over-tighten lag screws because the wood can be damaged by slip threads on the screw. Tighten bolts until the washers noticeably bend the surface of the wood.
Then finally attach the turnbuckles to the rafter-bolts, eye-bolts and pad-eyes. Affix the ends of the shade sails to the turnbuckles. The shade sails and their hardware equipments need to be adjusted to remove loose-fitting from the sail. After adjusting the sun shade hardware, turn the turnbuckles until there is no wrinkle in the sail's tough surface.
