Tips to Change Toner Cartridge in a Color Laser Printer

If your color laser printer is running low on toner when you are in the process of printing, do not panic! You can fix this problem by yourself, and it is easy since all you need to do is only change the cartridge that contains your toner. Of course, you need to know the steps to prevent mistakes.

Before doing all the processes, you will need to ensure that the cartridge needs to change. Although you see a notification on your screen, it does not mean that the cartridge has no ink left. It usually still contains a small amount of ink, or about 20% of the total amount. In a response to this, you can shake the cartridge to free the clumps of ink because the toner itself is a dry ink.

After you are sure that the cartridge really has no ink left, you can go to stores to purchase a new one. Of course, you have to find one that is compatible with your printer. At home, you can take the empty one out of the box and shake it to make sure (again) that the ink is dry.

The next thing you should do is removing the tape that covers the cartridge's holes. In this case, the tape should have a small tab since it can ease the removal. Although each printer sometimes requires a bit different way, you can take the old cartridge in simple way. Try to open the top or front part of the machine before pulling the plastic toner cartridge straight out. During this process, you may find a silver bar on the top. This is the part that you have to pull before you take the cartridge.

Then, after the removal, it is time to insert the new cartridge to your printer. To ensure that you have installed the cartridge correctly, you should hear or feel a small snap by the time you are trying to insert it. You can try to print a test page to know that everything works in order.
