Taking amazing photographs is not about what kind of camera you have. Taking great photos will always have to do with the person behind the camera and what their eyes see.
These tips are not about learning how to use your camera. Instead, they are focused on the creative side of taking photos.
I've compiled what I feel is the top 5 tips so you can take better photos. So let's get started.
1) Child's perspective Many people to tend to be lazy and stand straight up to take their photos. Why not try shooting from a child's eye level. This perspective yield great results.
2) Place your subject off to the side of your frame. Also known as the "Rule of Thirds" Subjects that are smack in the middle of photo tend to be extremely boring.
3) Find the light. Do be afraid to move your subject (if you can) to a better spot or location where there is better light.
4) Try to avoid using the flash as much as possible. I will always travel with my mini tripod. Have your tripod will remove the hand shake and your images will them be in focus. Your night photos will also improve dramatically.
5) Get the details. Get up close to your subject and take closer shots. If you are traveling take as many detailed shots as possible. It's those little thing that you will cherish the most and the details will elicit certain memories taking you back to that moment in time.
There you have it. I know there are a ton more tips, but these are what I feel will get you on your way to taking better photos. Also remember that there is no right or wrong way taking a great photo. Some of the world's greatest photos have been accidents.
