Every day we are bombarded with similar questions from many of our customers asking advice about how to get the best value for money when their washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, oven or any appliance breaks down. We have complied this list of our best recommendations to help you out.
1. Beware of the "Cheap" call out fee. Many repairers will lure you in with a cheap call out fee. A better name for a call out fee is a "drive out" fee. The repairer is being paid that fee just to drive to your house. He is not promising to do any work within that fee. This why our service fee includes 30 mins of labour, we are able to get most repair completed in that first call.
2. Get the right tradesperson with the right skills. Electricians, plumbers and handymen are not appliance service or refrigeration technicians, just as appliance or refrigeration technicians are not electricians, plumbers or handymen. If you dont get the right skills you can end up paying a lot more until you get the right answer about your problem. Often customers receive the wrong advice and dispose of a perfectly good appliance as their "other" tradesperson does not have the skills to repair the appliance and recommends replacing rather than repairing a perfectly good appliance. You dont go to the doctor to get your taxes done!
3. Understand what your warranty covers. If your appliance is out of the original manufacturer's warranty, then the warranty repair being conducted on your appliance only covers the actual work that has been done. Many customer's ask a repairer to "fix" their appliance and anticipate that other issues that arise at a later date will be covered by a new warranty. This is not true.
