Top 5 Beaches In Sydney
Sydney is famous the world over as a beachside capital with dozens of beaches which the tourists love and the locals flock to
. Most
Sydney hotels will be able to give you directions and advice as to the easiest ways to get to any number of beaches.
The best part is you do not have to be a keen swimmer to enjoy a beach in Sydney because many people simply go to people watch or to eat at any of the fabulous cafes and restaurants that dot the shoreline.
So, bearing in mind the difficulties of classifying beaches in any way shape or form, let's take a look at five popular beaches worthy of a visit.
Bondi Beach. Any list of beaches in Sydney has to begin with Bondi Beach. It is simply the most famous beach and is located close to the CBD and easily accessible by train or bus. The beach itself has a great swell so bodysurfers and board riders alike will enjoy their day. Others can simply stroll along the Boulevard and sit in the sun and enjoy fish and chips and a drink. Alternatively, go and enjoy lunch overlooking the beach at one of the restaurants or cafes or simply gofer of stroll and enjoy the sights.
Manly Beach. Manly Beach is a great day trip if you want a visit from the CBD by taking a ferry. The trip itself is an enjoyable 40 minute ride across the magnificent harbour and then you'll arrive at a palm tree lined beachfront with inviting waves as well as pubs and restaurants a short stroll away.
Coogee Beach. Once again you can enjoy a trip to Coogee along with many backpackers and students with whom this beach is extremely popular. As with any beach in Sydney it is surrounded by some great pubs and eateries. You will also enjoy the nightlife where the Coogee Bay Hotel often hosts popular bands attracting huge crowds.
Bronte Beach. Located not too far from Bondi Beach this is a popular destination for families mainly because of the protected man-made pools built into the rocks next to the beach. In fact, the pools are often favoured over the beach which can often be a little rough but any case you will be able to enjoy the beach a little more easily as this not so popular destination does not attract the crowds as does Bondi.
Tamarama Beach. Although not a popular destination, this beach is popular with those in the know. There are no real tourist facilities, just a spectacular beach with fast forming waves which give you a short sharp ride of great intensity. It's a great place to unwind and avoid the crowds.
With so many beaches available, Sydney
hotels are full of tourists looking for a great day out at the beach. One of the most endearing things about Sydney's beaches is the lack of formality. Anybody can visit the beach and feel comfortable and really unwind, shedding the warriors of the workaday week and slowly discovering what life is really all about.
