1. Nursing and Health Care

Those in this field have the best job prospects as people will still need their services and will continue to use their services until the end of their lives. As fewer and fewer people train for this career, there is a significant increase in the job opening and it is expected to grow another 28% in the years to come. The dependence on drugs and the increasing number of the American population contribute to this job being the growing industry despite the recession. Those who stand to benefit from this are those working as physician assistants, x-ray technicians, medical record coordinators and other medical staff with their pay ranging from $30,000 to $60,000.

2. Education

According to the US Department of Labor a large number of teachers will be retiring by 2016 and of course, new teachers are expected to take their places. As schools in poor urban or rural areas find it more difficult to recruit teachers for chemistry or foreign language, they are wiling to pay a higher salary to get the qualified help they need.

3. Environmental Industry

As many more people, companies and corporations realize the importance of going green, many professionals in the areas of technology, manufacturing and science have a good chance of getting jobs with eco friendly companies. As many more people realize the importance of using solar power, renewable energy and energy-efficient construction, job openings for those familiar in these areas continue to increase. The first eight months of 2008 saw an increase of 125% in job listings for accounting. This job is the fastest growing industry and is expected to keep growing until 2016.
