Top 5 Weight Management Tips
Many people find losing weight a difficult task
. A number of those who start a diet often give up within just a few weeks. This usually means that once a few pounds have been shed, they are steadily put back on again as the usual habits creep back in.
However, those who stick with a proper
weight management regime and continue to implement some common healthy eating and exercise techniques almost always begin to see the benefits.
Here are our top five tips in your quest to losing weight healthily:
1)Exercise regularly.
This one may sound obvious, but regular exercise is the key to a healthy lifestyle. Without it, your weight loss plan is far less likely to succeed in the long term. Trying to achieve a minimum of five 30 minute sessions of exercise per week should be your target. It need not even be strenuous, even a walk with a friend will count towards your overall goal.
2)Think 'healthy' not 'thin'.
Many people's attitudes change when their mindset changes to becoming 'healthy' rather than 'thin'. Considering which foods will keep your body healthy, rather than those which will help you to lose weight fast will usually have more benefit in the future.
3)Join a weight loss group.
Weight support groups are great for motivation and support from like-minded people. You'll get to meet new friends and share your experiences and journey for weight loss together. And best of all, classes are held in towns and cities all over the country, meaning you will never need to travel far to get to your nearest group.
4)Lose weight slowly.
Losing weight is a long-term thing and there are no benefits to it all dropping off within a couple of weeks. A quick loss means it's more likely to have come from vital muscle tissue, which is used to keep our metabolisms working, meaning you'd actually need to eat even less in the long-run to lose the real weight, which comes from body fat.
5)Cut down on fatty foods.
This also may go without saying, but cutting down on fatty foods should be one of the first things you do on your quest for a healthier lifestyle. There are approximately 9 calories in a gram of fat, compared to just 4 calories in a gram of protein or carbohydrate. Using more calories than your body can handle is the first cause of weight gain, so eating less fat will help to prevent this.
