How many times have you said to yourself you are going to lose your beer belly and get a six pack

? If you are like most men, probably over and over again all your life since being introduced to alcohol.

There is a reason why not everybody has a six pack. The reason is that it isn't easy to achieve despite what certain adverts will tell you. There is no secret pill or trick to losing weight and getting a six pack. The only true way to achieve what is perceived as perfection is through being dedicated.

By reading the five top tips below you will stand more than a fighting chance of achieving your ultimate goal which is the elusive six pack.

Join a gym


Joining a gym has to come first because it is the most important. You can buy all of the weights and equipment needed for home use but if you are going to work out at home you will probably get distracted. By joining a gym you have to make the effort to attend. Once you are there you will more than likely feel like you have to get your monies worth as well.

The other benefit of going to the gym is that there will be trained experts around to answer any questions you may have.

Set achievable goals

Do not expect to get the perfect body over night. Setting yourself simple achievable goals is the key to your success. Keep your goals small but often and make sure you reward yourself when you achieve one of them. When I say reward I don't mean with lots of alcohol and food.

Train properly

A big mistake made by most beginners is incorrect form and bad routines. If you are not training properly and performing the exercises in the correct way you will not see the benefits in them. This can lead to you becoming de motivated which is another reason why it is best to join a gym. Gym instructors and other gym members are usually very helpful so will be more than happy to help you if you are unsure on how to perform an exercise properly.

Make sure you start with a reasonable routine that you can sustain. Most beginners tend to lift too much too soon which again will lead to de motivation when they get injured or can't perform as well as they think they should.

Eat properly


Most people believe that if you can lift lots of weights you can eat what you like. Eating the right foods at the right times is essential when body building or trying to lose weight. In order to keep your metabolism going it is recommended to eat little and often. We are not going to go into the INS and out of exactly what you should be eating but as a starting point try and ensure you stay away from processed foods and try and intake lots of protein.

Stick at it

If you stick at it you will definitely see results. The worst thing you can do when starting a new regime is give up. By following the other four points properly you should remain motivated enough to keep your routine up. Remember that weight training and body sculpting is very much a marathon and not a sprint.
