Top Things To Do When Visiting Chicago
Looking for things to do on a trip to Chicago
? Here are five of the top things to do when visiting Chicago...
Visit the Art Institute of Chicago
Located in Grant Park, the Art Institute of Chicago is the second largest art museum in the United States and has one of the world's most significant collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art in its permanent exhibits. The collection includes more than 30 paintings by Claude Monet as well as works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, and Vincent Van Gogh. The Art Institute of Chicago is located at 111 South Michigan Avenue.
Tour Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field is one of the most beloved ballparks in all of America. Take a tour to get an up close and personal look at more than 90 years of history in this celebrated ballpark. See the dugouts, Cubs and visitor's clubhouses, on-deck circles, press box, bleachers and suites (certain areas may have limited access on game days). Tours are available from late April through early October. Purchase tickets in advance to ensure you get your desired time and date. Wrigley Field tours depart from Wrigley Field's Gate D, which is located at the corner of Addison Street and Sheffield Avenue.
Take In the View from the Willis (Sears) Tower
You won't find a better view of the city of Chicago than from atop the Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower. Known until 2009 as the historic Sears Tower, the Willis Tower is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. The elevator ride to the Skydeck on the 103rd floor takes just one minute. Once you're up there, take in the breathtaking view and explore Chicago through museum-quality exhibits (including a kid-level "Knee High Chicago" display). For thrill-seekers, the newly constructed Skydeck Ledge allows you to walk 4.3 feet away from the building in an enclosed glass box. The Willis Tower is located at 233 South Wacker Drive.
