If, say, a quarter of your followers in Twitter or contacts in Facebook are like these, it would be a lot easier to remind them that you do have a site, or that you have new entries in your blog with the help of putting up a new post in these social networking sites. Make sure to include the link to the post, though, so you can easily redirect them and get the targeted website traffic you're after.
