Basically a really good machine

The unit has worked as promised. My only complaints are the display settings are hard to read from a distance and some of the programing using the remote is not intuitive.

Won't hook up to an older TV.

I really don't have a clue how well this works. I bought it to replace a failing VCR. Unfortunately my TV is an older model that only has a coaxial input connection. This DVD/VCR doesn't have that kind of an output connection so I am unable to use it and am stuck with it until my present TV gives out and I buy a new one that will have one of the connections this unit has.

It is just ok

It was a mistake to buy one without a built in tuner. Much harder to set up especially because I use satellite with two tuners and I wanted this to work with the second sat tuner. It took awhile to figure it out. It makes decent recordings off tv and I have copied a couple vhs tapes which are just sort of ok in quality. The unit itself does not seem to very well made. Lots of chinzy plastic. It seems to be impossible to find a very good quality dvd/vhs recorder combo. As per reviews they all seem to suck.
