The Volkswagen Touran was launched in 2003 to fill a gap in the model line-up below the Sharan

, VW's large MPV. The VW Touran was the first production vehicle in the Volkswagen Group to be released with the new ParkAssist technology, it senses up to 30 km/h to determine whether the Touran will fit in the parallel parking position.

The diesel engines offer higher readings for miles per gallon; you can achieve 60 mpg in a diesel Touran in proper conditions. The Touran has a five and six-speed manual transmission, Tiptronic six-speed automatic transmission and DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission.

All VW Touran's come standard with head and side airbags for the front passengers, curtain bags to provide better side protection. Anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control are also a standard fit, as well as an alarm. The Touran received an overall 5 stars in the EuroNCAP crash safety test for passenger and pedestrian safety.

The Touran has plenty of legroom for a seven seater; the third row seats fold to have a huge 695 litres of boot space which is great when going on family holidays.
