Touring Or Visiting Cornwall - Here Are Some Fun Ideas For Real Kids And Bigger Kids
Cornwall - what's not to love about this incredible place
? With dramatic coastlines and remarkable beaches some of the best family memories have been made here. Cornwall is located in the far south west of Great Britain, and is the only county in England that has only one neighbour at its border being Devon.
It is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the United Kingdom, its famous for Cornish pasties and delicious cream teas with an array of history to soak up and enjoy.
The region has over 4.4 million visitors each year who stay there, which would explain the awards they won such as 'Favourite UK Country Escape'. They have a huge variety of things to do, and the Cornish culture has some yummy and exciting experiences!
Some of the most popular parts to visit are the coastal areas such as Newquay, Perranporth and Polzeath. My favourite has to be Newquay, I am personally one for adventure and fun when I am away, and if you do not mind getting a bit wet in the day and dancing the night away then this is the place for you. Newquay is famous for its surfing; if you are new to this you will find numerous schools that can teach you how. However if you are one for a quiet walks or even some bird watching, then Perranporth is more suited. It has a quiet family beach and a footpath which runs along the coast so you can take in the breath taking views.
On the other side of Cornwall you will find two little communities that join together called Looe, you have West and East Looe which join together by a bridge across the river. This village has been a holiday destination for more than 200 years, and relies very heavily on tourism since the pilchard canning factory closed.
Another town which sits more towards the south east of Cornwall is Penzance, a very ancient market town. A chapel was once built at the headland to the west of the harbour over 1,000 years ago; this is where the village got its name originally as Penzance means Holy Headland. Chapel street is the most historic street in Penzance, and contains many buildings dating as far back as mid 18th Century.
Where can we go?
When visiting Cornwall, I would definitely recommend 'The Eden Project'. It is basically a huge garden in a giant greenhouse, but not your usual English garden. They grow plants that come from all over the world, and show all the wonders of nature at its best. They host many fantastic arts and music festivals.
Extreme Sports your thing? Well this is definitely for you. Learn to surf or go kayaking in the choppy seas of Newquay with Ocean Crest Sports . Led by fully qualified instructors they organise everything for you, there is nothing for you to worry about. If you really want to laugh in the face of danger, why don't you try Coasteering jump off a cliff and explore smugglers caves! You can also take part in paintballing or race each other with karting thy have a lot to offer so make sure you check out their website. All prices vary according to what you choose to do, but all seem very reasonable.
If it's a nice day get your picnic blanket at the ready, and take a trip to these beautiful gardens at Lappa Valley. With a large amount of bright and exotic summer flowers and huge woodland area this is also a perfect place for a walk. This is perfect place to lose your self in this magical 375 acre place.
If you're a train fanatic or any of your family is then make sure you visit this steam railway track and miniature train track. The track originally built in 1849 was made for a mineral transportation; the one mile track runs through Benny Halt and East Wheal Rose stations. When you come to the end of your journey you can go through the maze, on the boating lake or have a go at crazy golf!
Ok I know what you're thinking; if you have been to one Zoo you have been to them all. But Newquay Zoo is awarding so it must be different. With 130 different species from the penguins chilling around the pool to an impressive tropical house full of creepy crawlies they certainly have a lot to offer. They also have activity trails and face painting for the children and a free play are for when you're finished exploring.
