Toyota Prius battery life expectancy is 8 to 10 years, or 140,000 miles, or which ever comes first. So what are your options if you have a dead Prius Battery? When I buy used Toyota Prius' often times they come with bad battery packs. So I have been rebuilding them myself for a few years now. It is not all that difficult to do, and can be done using about 5 hand tools that you find around your house. This usually costs me anywhere from $300 to $600 dollars depending on the deals that I can get from the websites that I buy my new-used cells from. The Toyota Prius battery life of the rebuilt battery will last anywhere from 3 to 7 years depending on how new the cells are that I have found, and put into the Toyota Prius battery pack. What if I have a Generation I, what is the Toyota Prius Battery Life? Generation I battery packs come in 2001-2003 Prius cars. You can expect this battery to last up to 140,000 miles or about 7 to 10 years. The warranty of the Toyota Prius battery packs end after 8 years. So you are on your own after this time, and closer to the end of your warranty, it doesn't help you much at all. What if I have a Generation II battery, what are my options? If you have a Generation II battery it means that you have a 2004-2009 Toyota Prius. This falls under the same category as the Generation I battery. Rebuilding the battery using newer cells is an option, although the prices are not quit as bad for Gen II batteries because there are a lot more of them to be had, meaning you can find them a lot easier, and in good shape. I would recommend not using Toyota, they are very expensive and there are much better solutions, that won't cost you as much!
