Most drivers spend their time on the road. Good thing there are traffic control signs to guide them what road they should take. Traffic control signs also indicate the directions of the roads to the prohibited traffic actions. These are ideally used in driveways, parking lots and roadways. They control the flow of traffic coming in and going out of a facility or establishment to regulate a systematic course of action, thus preventing vehicle collisions.
There are many types and uses of traffic control signs. These are:
Truck Route Signs - trucks are required to stay on the designated Truck
Routes. These signs lead them to their nearest destination.
Arrow Signs- these points the way where to go such as right, left, or straight ahead
No U-turn Signs these prohibit illegal u-turns from specific roads, this may cause traffic disruption and accidents. Expressways and fast lanes do not allow u-turns due to their non-stop traffic flow.
One Way Signs these direct a one way flow of traffic. Vehicles entering these roads can cause head on collisions with other vehicles.
In and Out Signs these are mostly found in driveways and parking lots. These instruct the drivers which way they should turn upon going in and out of an establishments parking area.
No Turn Signs these indicate that turning left or right in an intersection or road is not permitted.
No Truck Signs these ban the entry of trucks in specific roads or streets. Usually, these roads are narrower than highway roads. Trucks that enter these roads may cause delays and disruptions to smaller vehicles.
No Thru Traffic Signs these tells the drivers that a driveway is privately owned and traffic coming from the outside or passing through is not allowed.
Traffic Control Signs are made from heavy-duty rustproof aluminum for durability and long life. Most Traffic Signs are reflectorized for additional nighttime visibility. Many traffic signs feature high intensity retroreflective material which meets MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) regulations.
Learning different types of traffic control signs helps the drivers be alert when it comes to reading signs. No one wants to get stuck up behind trucks because one has taken the wrong route, and truck drivers should be aware of the signs such as privately owned driveways to avoid charges of illegal entry. Being aware of traffic control signs gets the drivers to their destinations easier and faster on the road.
