The transportation of goods is a must part of any business

, big or small and it is considered to be one of the most important tasks of business. Any business must make sure that they conduct the goods transportation task with utmost care. Usually transportation of goods does not necessarily mean the movement of the normal and consumable products from one part of the globe to the other. It also means the shipment of the hazardous materials from one destination to the other.

As the name suggest, the hazardous materials are really dangerous goods to handle and has every potential to cause harm if not handled with lots of care. But like all other goods, these products also need to get transported from one place to another since many businesses use these materials on a daily basis. In case of the transportation of such goods, the IMDG training and the DOT training is extremely essential for all the people who directly or indirectly are involved in handling of the products. The DOT and the IMDG training makes sure that all the employees who handle the dangerous goods on a daily basis are also aware of their own safety.

The IMDG stands for the International Maritime Dangerous Goods. And the DOT stands for the Department of transportation. Both these are just guidelines about how to handle the dangerous goods with care so that no harm is done with the environment, the human beings of themselves while they are busy with the transportation process. The DOT only offers the tips and guidelines about the transportation of the hazardous materials, but it is really up to the individual employer as to what kind of training that he can arrange for his company, keeping in mind the kind of transportation he does, whether with the help of roadways, railways or airways.

As per the DOT guidelines, any employee without the proper IMDG training can also handle the hazardous materials as long as he has sufficient and previous experience. He must work under the direct supervision of any expert hazardous materials consultant professional who has proper training in his background. Usually all the employees with the IMDG and the DOT training are experts in their domain and are perfectly skilled. But then as per the rules and guidelines of DOT, each employee must be retrained every three years on the latest guidelines of the HAZMAT training.
