When a massage therapist has already been licensed by at least one state, there are several other states that are willing to recognize the license through a State Endorsement. They only require that the written and practical examinations that the massage therapist passed are either equivalent to theirs or more difficult, and that the licensing authority that gave it is either just as strict or even stricter than theirs.
In some states, therapists who are licensed in related health fields may also be recognized and given credit as Licensed Massage Therapists or LMTs if they meet a certain number of hours of massage therapy education.
