Everyone knows this smallest breed of dogs. They are elegant, swift moving and attentive with a saucy look. Chihuahuas are smallest dogs but with big attitude. They are intelligent and should not be underrate for their small size. They are good family dogs if kids are patient and gentle with them. A special care should be done in the winter season as they are very much sensitive to cold. These things should be remember by the owner while training a Chihuahua.

1. Good behavior training

For a well balanced and well behaved Chihuahua, you need to treat your puppy with gentle training. As positive behaviors are rewarded with treats and praises, negative behaviors should also be dealt with a kind manner, not by hitting, kicking and slapping. Good behaviors are learnt when positive approach is taken but it may develop bad behaviors when you will be cruel and harsh with your puppy. Behavior problem can be the cause of frustration if you are not cautious about it.

2. Potty training a Chihuahua puppy

Potty training is very important not just because that it makes the mess in the home but it's also the part of the good behavior. The best way to potty train any dog is using the crates. As dog view crate as their den, they will not soil there. They will whine and cry to come out and now it's your time to take it outside and make it relieve there. Gradually it will develop as a habit and your problem will be solved.

3. Chewing and barking problem

Every Chihuahua puppies will chew at certain period when they had the problem of teething. Give it some chew toys or old clothes as a remedy for this problem. If it comes to bite and chew your hand, then yell "ouch" and ignore it for some time. It will work as it comes to know that it has pained you

For barking problem, you need to find out if your Chihuahua is feeling uncomfortable with something or just trying to catch your attention. Find this and let it learn to live in isolation and separation as well.

4. Socializing

Socializing is necessary to make your Chihuahua well adjusted and a valuable companion. Training a Chihuahua to be socialized can be done when it's 3 months old. It can be done in many ways like making continuous interaction with your friends and other pets, taking it for a short car rides, acquainting it with activities like bathing, brushing etc and making it familiar with almost all the things in the surroundings.
