For a stubborn dog, it takes some extra effort to conduct theirdog training. Despite so, there are ways to train them so they will be obedient to your orders. Here are some tips to help you with just that.

First, if it is a puppy you are training, get him to socialize with other dogs. Befriend dog owners with well-mannered dogs so that your puppy can learn from them as they play together for about 10-15 minutes a day. Your puppy's stubbornness will worsen if he socializes with dogs that are not trained or is aggressive. Another thing you can do with a stubborn puppy is that you could walk him to different places. The rationale is that you are exposing him to different ground surfaces as some dogs are afraid of the change in floor type. Having him exposed helps him overcome his fear that could lead to misbehavior.

Also, try not to use the same words all the time, like "No". You are probably going to use that word in your daily life as well even without referring to your dog, so saying it too frequently will make the word seem meaningless over a period of time. You could use a different word like "Wrong" instead. Adding on to that, use your command only once; do not repeat the word over and over and allow your dog some time to respond, and use the word you use to discipline him if he does not obey. This way, he will understand the need to follow the one word command.

When it comes to disciplining your dog, you must know how to use reinforcement and punishment at the correct time. Say you command him to come to you, but he does not until a while, do not spank him but instead reinforce him. Spanking will only lead your dog to thinking that when he obeys your command, he will only be spanked. When he does not obey your command, look for a punishment that will not hurt him, like spraying misty water at him or hitting the table with a rolled magazine to surprise him.
