Transportation Means at Newark

Newark Liberty International Airport being at an approximate distance of 16 miles from Manhattan, travellers coming to this airport have a vast array of travelling options open to them. This handy little guide discusses some of them in Newark with their effects on your wallet

1-Car Service

When it comes to business travel (on organization's expenses, of course), car service hands down is the perfect way to travel from Newark to Manhattan and back!

COST: $45-55 (each way) in a luxurious sedan. Tolls and tips are separate.

PROS: Pre-scheduled and pre-paid service available, and no waiting!

CONS: Traffic can play role in deciding whether you are on time or not!

2-Taxi(s)

If a car service is not available, go get a taxi, that's how it is in Newark! They can easily be considered the next best option in Newark.

COST: Metered fare (excluding tolls & taxes) to anywhere in Manhattan can go as high as $75 sometimes. If Newark is the destination then hail any cab and it'll take one there.

PROS: Good availability, door-to-door service, less travel time, no navigation required.

CONS: If traffic is thick, travel time increases. During bad weather and peak hours, sometimes cabs are not as easy to get.

3-Shuttle

Another door-to-door option in Newark, with a little bargain. Shuttles provide door-to-door service cheaper than taxis. Time to reach the destination depends upon the number of stops.

COST: Differs from company to company, usually $13-20.

PROS: Excellent for group travel, no navigation, online and pre-scheduled pick-up available.

CONS: Travel time more as compared to cabs or taxis because the shuttle may do a number of stops before heading to Airport.

4-Public Transport:

For those having no problems with subways and trains, AirTrain can take you to Newark train station, where you can get a NJ Transit, and arrive at Penn Station (33rd and 7th Avenue).

COST: Through NJ Transit, $11.55 one-way, excluding travel to and from Penn Station.

PROS: Cheap, quick and reliable.

CONS: Managing luggage may be a problem for some.
