When on a luxury Patagonia tour there are many wide and varied things to enjoy

. Huge landscapes, there are a lot of areas solely populated by fauna and it is a great chance to get back to nature. Latin America travel is well-known for adventure, and it just depends what landscapes and challenges you want to experience during your time there.

When it comes to trekking in Argentina, there is no question that the best known area is Patagonia where you are sure to be blown away by the uniqueness of the vistas. In the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, you can find more than 200 glaciers, a truly impressive sight. The trek to do here is around Mount Fitzroy. This is a massive structure that appears different depending on the time of day and the perspective you are viewing it from. In particular, it's well worth getting up early to see the sun rising and giving it a rosy tint.

There are many ways to trek around the mountain and it's a good idea to take at least five days to get to a good variety of the possible vantage points. Along with the peak, there are lakes, rivers, forests and more to experience. Hikes begin from El Chaltn, sometimes referred to as the trekking capital of Argentina. While you're in the park, head down to the Perrito Moreno glacier which provides an unforgettable experience as its blue ice breaks off and crashes down into the lake that lies below.

Farther north, in the Patagonian Lakes District, is the Nahuel Huapi National Park, another fantastic destination for trekkers. The area offers a variety of landscapes to enjoy including snow capped mountains, a multitude of lakes, woods and flowers. A number of wildlife species make their homes here as well. The jumping off point for treks in this area is the city of Bariloche.

Bear in mind that for trekking anywhere in Patagonia, you will need to stick to the summer months between December and April. At other times of the year, the trails can become dangerous or impassable due to heavy snowfall.

An area that isn't always considered but also offers some great places to hike is the Catamarca province. Not only does it offer a very varied landscape, there are also several archaeological sites that can be visited in the area. Located in the northwest of the country, hiking in Catamarca is a perfect activity to combine with wine tasting in Mendoza, providing you with the ideal destinations for a vacation that combines adventure with indulgence.
