Troubleshooting Shower Head Problems
Your bathroom needs continuous care in order to maintain all the things in good working condition
. Some problems may arise if you do not handle the bathroom carefully or due to daily use. Let us now discuss about few such problems and how to resolve them.
If hard water or very impure water is supplied inside your house then there are chances that lime may deposit inside the shower heads causing it to get blocked. In this case the flow of water through the shower head will be greatly affected. To tackle this situation, a good option is to change the shower head.
You'll need locking jaw pliers and a pipe wrench and an adjustable wrench for unscrewing the old head. Put duct tape on the tool's jaws to protect the finish on the shower arm and new shower head. Prevent the shower arm from turning with pliers or pipe wrench while you unscrew the old shower head (counter clockwise) with the other wrench or pliers.
It is very essential to use Teflon tape (clockwise) around the shower arm's pipe threads in clockwise direction. After this, you can set the new shower head.
If your shower sprays freezing cold water when the dishwasher or washing machine kicks on, or scalds you when someone flushes a toilet, you have two basic choices to organize shower schedules with appliance schedules or have a pressure-balancing valve installed on the hot and cold water lines that supply the shower faucet. Unless you're quite familiar with doing your own plumbing work, this is a job for a plumber.
Bathroom is a place with lots of moisture, so growth of molds and mildew can be easily expected here. However, it can be prevented by cleaning out the moisture from time to time. The most common spots where molds and mildew can be found is shower doors and in corners of the shower. This problem can cause some serious damages in the bathroom so you need to cure it as soon as possible.
To prevent this problem, you can do regular cleaning of shower doors and such places with commercial shower cleaners. After taking shower, you can clean the shower door and near by area to prevent this problem. Also arrange for a proper way of ventilation such as a bath fan or exhaust fan.
Mildew may grow on the rubber that is used to seal the shower door. If this is the case then you can use 6 is to 1 mixture of water and household bleach (6 water, 1 bleach). If the problem still does not get solved then may need to replace it. For replacing, you may call a shower-door installation specialist.
