Having some good trout information can increase your chances of having a successful fishing trip. Depending on what type of trout your fishing for there are certain things that a trout fisherman needs to know.

Trout have the ability of changing their colors depending on the habitat that they are in. For example, a trout that enters a river or a creek from the ocean is typically a silver color and the same species of trout that is already been in the river for a while will appear more greenish with speckles and with more coloration. They use this ability as a camouflage based on there surroundings.

They are several species of trout. Let's look at the cutthroat trout, there are 14 known species such as, Colorado river cutthroat, Lahontan cutthroat, Bonneville cutthroat, Yellowstone cutthroat, and several others. You can find different species of trout in the same body of water depending on where you are fishing.

The fins of the trout are spineless and all have a fatty fin near the tail. Trout are raised on farms due to there popularity and reintroduced into heavily fished waters. It helps with the overfishing of the trout population. They are a boney fish but are considered a good eat.

Trout generally feed on soft bodied prey such as Diptera, Mayfly, caddis fly, and stoney fly. A very successful bait for trout fishing is nightcrawlers they are usually easy to find and plenty of them. Fly fishing for trout is a fun sport that every angler loves, but you also have to master the casting of the line which is simple once you get the hang of it.
