Try Phoenix for a Winter Golfing Getaway

One of the reasons I moved to the Phoenix area six years ago was for the golf. For over twenty years my spouse and I lived in the Denver area and we exceedingly no longer cared for the winters. Needless to say we ordinarily were also putting our golf equipment away in late October and they weren't coming out of the closet until sometime in April. Except for when we would make winter visits to Phoenix! How celebrated it was to play golf in spectacular sunny weather conditions in January, one word... amazing!

Since living in Phoenix now for over six years I have played numerous golf courses within the metropolitan region. I probably favor summer golf just because of the low-cost fees(of course tee off at sun up). But there are not many places within the Nation were you can play golf in the winter months. Here are some of my desirable places to play golf in Phoenix. I'll break it up into 3 categories, inexpensive, moderately priced and expensive.

I am going to start off with the cheap group and what this means is $50 and under. One of the least costly is Apache Creek golf course situated in Apache Creek right off Freeway 60. This is a desert course kept in quite good shape. You can get on Apache Creek typically for under $35, this is a genuinely good deal. My next vote would be Kokopelli, this is a very fine golf course located in Gilbert where winter rates are ordinarily right around $45. Next in Mesa I would pick either View Point or Painted Mountain, both exceptionally fine courses that you can get on for under $50.

Moving to the moderately priced courses my first pick would be Superstition Springs located in Mesa. This is a exceptionally pleasant course with astounding views and you ordinarily expect to give about $65 a round. Next would be the 500 Club located in North Phoenix, good course, terrific views and priced roughly $65. A golf course I highly endorse is Las Sendas located in North Mesa. This is a extremely difficult , exquisite course with extraordinary views. Winter fees are customarily in the $90 range.

On to the expensive courses and there are quite a few to select from. Number one is going to be the Dinosaur course in Gold Canyon. This is ranked in the top 5 of all public courses in Arizona and is a must play. Green fees are normally around $150. Next in line would be TPC Scottsdale stadium course. The PGA Tour makes a stop here every February. Green fees can be costly at $200+ but it's worth playing at least one time. My last choice would be The Boulders in North Scottsdale, fabulous views along with a wonderful golf course with green fees approximately $150.

If you are scheduling a golf visit to Phoenix this winter with any luck several of these recommendations will aid you. There is currently much competition between golf courses for your golfing money as a result this will be a excellent year for the winter golf visitor. Expect to see you on the course!
