Twitter - 4 Simple Steps to Getting Started on Twitter

Twitter, the user friendly platform is a really cool tool to connect with people and to build worldwide relationships.


Go to Twitter and click on the join today button

Choose your username and a password

Put in your email address, verify that you're a human

Set up your profile

That's it! A few recommendations:

Use your name if possible.

I follow people with weird names or company names but I prefer to refer to people by name. Some people use more than one account. They will set up one for their company and a personal one.

Upload a photo, avatar or some sort of image for your profile.

Again, people use all kinds of images for their profile; I personally prefer to see the person. It makes for a better connection.

Your profile.

Use catchy keywords to describe what you do. It's helpful for people to know what you do.

Website link.

You can add your website, blog, Facebook page or link to any page of choice.

Connecting with people

Even if you don't know anyone on twitter yet, you can start following people and they'll start following you. Pay attention to conversations. Join the ones that interest you.

Use tweetlater.com to auto-follow people and to send an automatic message. Also, you can schedule your tweets.

With search.twitter.com, you can search for people who are talking about topics of interest to you. For instance, search for your favorite speakers, authors and/or celebrity's.

Use tweetscan.com to find topics and conversations that interest you

3 people search applications: whoshouldifollow.com, twello.com and twubble.com
