Twitter is misunderstood! Many people stay away from it

, because they just dont GET it. It does work, but it is hard to pinpoint why. Twitter is now the 13th most visited site on the internet, globally. There are several million users, although no official number has been released by Twitter as yet. Whatever the number, Twitter features almost daily in the news nowadays, whether it is a celebrity tweet or on the bad side a murder, following a dispute on Twitter, which is in the news this morning.

Companies now understand why they need to be using Twitter for their business. They know that they need to listen to what people are saying about them. They can also announce events and generally give good customer service by being available and approachable. If you use Attraction Marketing in your MLM business, you can find leads everyday with your Twitter account. It is necessary to ensure you fill in all the information about yourself well, using a nice photograph, a good bio and inserting your link to your blog.

Then you have your 140 character comments, or tweets. So what do you say? 'What are you doing?' is the question Twitter asks of you. You can just answer this (depending on what you are actually doing of course!!) or you can think of something else interesting to say. People like to hear or see anything interesting, particularly if it relates to their interests, so share anything you find. If you are a Network Marketer you can put out links to your blog when you have up-dated it in order to drive traffic to it, or maybe links to YouTube to a new video you have posted. If you are in MLM, you are just trying to get traffic to your Blog.

And obviously the more followers you have, the more traffic you can drive. So you need to add more people to your followers everyday. You can put your name in Twellow, which is the equivalent to the Yellow Pages for Twitter. You can re-tweet someone else's tweet if you find it interesting. Just click on the button at the right. You can also Favourite any tweet that you see that you would like to keep, maybe like a saying you may want to remember.

The Twitter Toolbar is a very helpful tool to have at your disposal. It is free and includes 100 tips written by Dan Hollings, and 50 resources and tools for Twitter. Use your twitter address everywhere you go and you will get a constant trickle of people following you. You can link your blog to Twitter, so that a tweet is sent out everytime you post a new article, using the Onlywire service.

A final suggestion. In your offline business, it can be hard to talk about your business with someone you have just met. So if you meet someone and would love to approach them, ask them if they are involved in any social media sites and give them your contact details, such as your Twitter name, and ask for theirs so that you can connect. This means you do not lose the prospect, and you may well gain their respect as well!
