Trade secrets therefore lack legal protection so once stolen the company cannot claim and ask for compensation. Trademarks are often used for identification purposes. These are ideally used in association with particular brand or good and are put on words, phrases, symbols and logos. In modern times intellectual properties have been more prominent and there have been legal purchases and selling of such rights and properties. Companies are buying patent rights from the inventor in exchange of either cash or share of profit. Thus the patent rights shift from the inventor to the company.
